James Anderson:

James Michael Anderson, shortly James Anderson is an English fast bowler who was born on 30th July 1982 in Burnley, Lancashire. He is 39 years old now but his ability to swing the bowl is probably the best in the world at present. He is also the current vice-captain of the England Test team. His father’s name is Michael Anderson and his mother’s name is Catherine Anderson. He holds the record for highest wicket taken by a fast bowler in Test cricket and is the third-highest wicket-taker overall in the world. He is also the leading wicket-taker for England in ODI cricket. In 2021, he became the most capped player for England in test cricket.

James Anderson started playing cricket in Burnley Cricket Club when he was very young. In 2002, he made his debut in first-class cricket for Lancashire. In that season he took 50 wickets in 13 games with three five-wicket hauls.

Then he was selected for the national side and took 23 wickets in five List A matches. He made his ODI debut against Australia on 15th December 2002 but the outcome was not so impressive in the series. He was then selected for the 2003 World Cup. In a match against Pakistan, he bowled a match-winning spell and took four wickets. In 2003, he made his test debut against Zimbabwe at Lord’s and celebrated it with a five-wicket haul. In the next ODI series against Pakistan, he took a hat-trick which is the first ODI hat trick by any England bowler. In the next five-match test series against South Africa, Anderson took 15 wickets at 39.86 on average. He was the leading wicket-taker for England in that series. Due to his knee injury, he was rested for next the Bangladesh Tour and after that, his inconsistency did not allow him to play regularly for the national side.

In the 2006 India tour of England, he played the last test match of the series and ended with an impressive figure of 4/40 in the first innings. He was named in the squad of Champions Trophy and Ashes series in 2006 but his performance remained below average in Ashes like others in the team. He was also selected for the 2007 World Cup but got injured during practice. In the 2007 England tour of India, he was leading the England pace attack and played all three test matches of the series. After that series, he had 53 test wickets. He got the man of the series award in that series and listed his name at Lord’s honors board. In the ODI series also he managed to take 14 wickets and was the leading wicket-taker of that series. He has been included in the 2007 T20 World Cup squad and took three wickets in four matches. After so many ups and downs, his performance was impressive in the 2010-11 Ashes series. He took more than 20 wickets in the series and became the second-youngest English bowler to complete 200 test wickets. He performed well in the Test series against India which England won by 4-0 and became the number one test side. He had now established himself as the strike bowler of England. In the 2013 Champions Trophy, he became the highest wicket-taker in ODI after getting his 235th wicket. In the 2015 World Cup, he was leading the England pace attack. In 2020, he created history when he took the 600th test wicket against Pakistan on the last day of the third Test at Ageas Bowl.
